November 17, 2021   (Bemidji, MN) – The Northwest Technical College Foundation (NTCF) raised $31,470 on the third annual Day of Giving. Many thanks to the donors and business sponsors for the success of the event.

The campaign for this year’s Day of Giving was to establish an endowed scholarship fund for Bemidji Career Academies. Having this endowed fund will provide scholarships to graduates of the Academies who attend Northwest Technical College.

The Bemidji Career Academies were established in 2017. The Academies are equipping students with the skills necessary to obtain high-skilled employment and career exploration. Students are able to assess their skills and talents for application in the workforce and build skills transferable to the workplace as they take courses specific to their chosen Academy.

There are several paths that lead directly from the Academies to Northwest Technical College: Health Careers, Manufacturing, Automotive Technology, Construction Trades, Child Care & Education, and Business.

“The Northwest Technical College Foundation wants to provide scholarships to the students who have interest in technical education,” said Ashley Johnson, executive director of the NTC Foundation. “We want to retain our homegrown students and their talent to provide the next generation of the workforce for our community.”

There are 800 students currently enrolled in the Bemidji Career Academies. Students can take as many Academies or pathways as they would like. This program exposes high school students to the vast career opportunities available in today’s job market.
